Financial/Business Unit Controller

About the Unit

Africa is the only continent besides Europe where Yara is the largest fertilizer company with approximately 1.5 million tons of annual fertilizer sales. Yara's history in Africa dates back more than 50 years, and Yara is one of the few companies present on the continent with a consistent profitable track record. Business Unit Africa offices are located in Johannesburg, South Africa, and we currently have domestic presence in Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Mozambique. The Business Unit Controller will be responsible for the financial controlling function for Business Unit Africa. The key focus are to drive high quality for financial reporting, ensuring that processes are implemented and followed. An additional responsibility will be to offer training and assistance in developing the local Finance teams. This a great opportunity to work with several countries, increase your knowledge of YCN business, gain exposure to the Yara expert functions and more importantly be part of a team with the ambition to transform the Finance function in Africa. The position will be based in Johannesburg, and will report to the Business Unit CFO.


• Consolidate the Country reports and run the BU Reporting • Initiate new reports for BU and countries • Review and consolidate the Business Plan • Manage and run Balance Sheet reviews • Follow up internal and external audits • Ensure all local legal requirements are fulfilled – board members, board meetings, dividend payments etc. • Coordinate the Business Unit SharePoint site to ensure all documents and working procedures are updated and followed • Support country finance teams by sharing best practices (competence development) • IT – training users on various finance systems • Produce benchmarking reports for the BU • Produce forecasts for the BU - financials, working capital – proactively identify challenges and propose corrective measures • Provide coaching to the Finance intern • Participate in projects led by the CFO team: o Review of workflows in the units – identify gaps and recommend solutions o Internal controls and governance improvement o Review of financial operations set up across Africa in order to improve the Finance function in the BU o Business Development projects


• Bachelor degree or higher in Finance • Min 3 years of work experience in Finance • Min 3 years of work experience in an international environment • Excellent communication skills
