An opportunity exists for a hands-on, commercially astute Financial Accountant to provide financial information that is useful for in making business and economic decisions for the Local, Regional and Head Office Yara Management through reports and analysis and to comply with Statutory and Regulatory Requirements.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Management Accountant and will manage a small team, based in Yara Australia’s head office based in North Sydney.


Yara Australia is recruiting into this position to support its commercial activities in Australasia.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Invoicing Key accounts and AR Reconciliations
  • Bank and Balance sheet Reconciliations

  • Process accounts payable transactions, within the Operating system

  • Intercompany Recharge, Reconciliation and Balance Confirmation

  • Month end close – Accruals, Prepayment and General Journal Reconciliation

  • Timely and accurate monthly reporting including Sales report, Margin report and so on.

  • Assist in Addressing queries from Regional Finance & Yara Finance

  • Maintain fixed asset registers

  • Assist in Annual external audit and preparation of statutory accounts

  • Assist in maintaining and improving systems and controls

  • Assist in income & indirect taxes

  • Assist with cashflow & treasury management

  • Assist with Monthly Payroll Tax Lodgement

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address queries

  • Manage the responsibilities in accordance with Product Stewardship requirements


  • Degree Qualified and Part, or fully CA/CPA

  • 3+ Years previous accounting experience in a high volume multi-currency environment

  • Previous experience in SAP, hyperion & SUN is preferred                                                                               
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel Knowledge

  • Previous experience in a large stock-exchange listed company

  • Self-starter, proactive, strong work ethic

  • Excellent organisational and communication skill
